I do OK. 00:00:23
Every band is excused. Today he had to work. 00:00:25
It is regular job, he told me if. 00:00:28
Several days ago he couldn't make it today, so. 00:00:30
See, we have a quorum. 00:00:33
OK, Yep. 00:00:38
Oh, OK. 00:00:40
All right. 00:00:43
All right. Is there any public comment? I don't see any public comment today. 00:00:46
OK, what's your? 00:00:51
What's your pleasure of the November 24th? 00:00:54
Minutes. 00:00:58
And the first paragraph, RRC representative Lizzie. 00:00:59
OK, the last name is. 00:01:03
ITCLOFF. 00:01:06
All right. Thank you. 00:01:10
Correction noted. 00:01:11
Any other additions or corrections? 00:01:14
OK, we have a motion. 00:01:18
OK. Motion is approved. 00:01:22
Look with the with the spelling correction, I'll. 00:01:25
Any discussion? 00:01:28
All those in favor signify by saying aye. 00:01:30
Aye, all opposed. 00:01:32
Bill was the second. 00:01:35
Yes, OK. Oh yeah, I'm sorry. I gotta go. 00:01:37
She is superwoman today. She's doing everything. She's doing minutes and talking and she's kind of. 00:01:41
It's all good. All right. Thank you. 00:01:48
You're welcome. 00:01:49
OK. 00:01:50
Update on area. 00:01:53
Director that's going to extension update area director. 00:01:54
For the UW extension position. 00:01:58
I talked with Jeremy and he did offer to come today, but I told him it wasn't necessary and Patty's out of town today. So I'll 00:02:01
just just quickly update you that the interviewed 13 candidates for the job on January 16th and 17th and then now they have 00:02:07
they're down to two finalists in their interview will be this Friday, January 30th. They did ask me in December to participate in 00:02:13
the interview. 00:02:20
But then when he selected January 30th, I told him that I had a UW extension. 00:02:26
Commitment already. And he laughed. 00:02:31
Because that's our day of our AI guy coming. So I, I won't, I don't, I'm not, I won't be involved in that. 00:02:33
So I think they'll pick someone this Friday and then Cameron, I guess you let us know. 00:02:39
You know, keep us posted. 00:02:45
When they come in, I'd be happy to come in or whatever, just just like just keep me posted. I would assume that will come next 00:02:47
week. 00:02:50
So. 00:02:53
I will definitely keep everybody updated. 00:02:55
OK, the. 00:02:57
Only update that I have for extension. 00:02:58
Is that this Friday to remind you that we have? 00:03:01
This a UWA I training program. I highly encourage you to come as a part of our county board. The gentleman we have coming is an 00:03:05
awesome. 00:03:09
Instructor. He's a He's a lawyer. He's teaches at UW Madison. He is a. 00:03:15
He works for the federal government in a high secret capacity in his protecting our government assets. 00:03:23
And I just think. 00:03:30
I wasn't, we weren't allowed to tell all he does, but I can tell you it's super awesome. And I got him to come here at a, at a 00:03:32
meeting in Madison. So I, I'm hoping to have a good showing. And then this, this, as you probably know, UW Wisconsin's got now 00:03:38
it's going to have an AI department. 00:03:44
And there will be throughout this year, there's going to be some regional. 00:03:50
Sessions for all the counties on how counties can utilize AI in all of their systems and it's really an exciting time. But to get 00:03:55
this guy to come to only Dodge County. 00:04:01
Is a is a remarkable thing, so it's. 00:04:07
What's the time in the the time, the time of that and I've got a gent. It should have been in your packet. 00:04:11
It's 9930 to 12:00. 00:04:16
And but this, this will be really good and bring your questions. 00:04:21
And I think, I think we have a lot of questions and. 00:04:27
And I think it'll be really good. So that's all I have for extension. 00:04:31
Now moving on to conservation and we'll turn it over to the Administrator at this time. 00:04:35
All right. Thank you. 00:04:41
So the update I wanted to share really is. 00:04:43
About recruitment for the conservationist position. 00:04:45
Please to let everybody know we do indeed have. 00:04:49
County conservationist and director of land and water. 00:04:51
Department at this time, Melissa can I pull is her name. She has Oh my goodness. 00:04:56
Significant amount of experience, more than 20 years, I think experience in. 00:05:02
Blend water working with. 00:05:07
Working for the federal government as well As for counties and in as a regional director. 00:05:09
She actually started. 00:05:16
Her time in in a profession with Dodge County years ago. 00:05:18
As an intern and so she's from Dodge County originally. She still has family living in Dodge County. 00:05:22
And she is joining us. She actually is available to join us. 00:05:29
Yesterday, but. 00:05:33
But. 00:05:35
We want to make sure we're not overstepping and so. 00:05:36
Sure, the confirmation of the appointment will be at the February County Board meeting. So her she starts the first day of the 1st 00:05:39
pay period following. 00:05:43
That county board meeting. 00:05:47
Which is February 19th. 00:05:48
OK. And then you kind of be in touch with me as to how you want the agenda work. Dale and I were on the interview team and we're 00:05:51
kind of thinking the first year. 00:05:56
Just. 00:06:01
Learn, learn the job and then we'll go over like the 10 year plan. 00:06:01
You know, like in the first month or two and then after that have her create a work plan. 00:06:06
Her work plan, not John. 00:06:10
You know that that's kind of what I'm thinking, the committee's role with her to help her do that. 00:06:12
I do. I am concerned about everyone trying to. 00:06:17
Take advantage of her. 00:06:21
In in the conservation world and have her commitment. 00:06:23
I want you to commit to me. I want you to commit to me And, and, and I just want to make sure she just. 00:06:26
Just relax one year and I wanted to feel very welcome and because I think there'll be a lot of things pulling on her and I just, I 00:06:31
just want to guard her and protect her, you know, You know what I mean? And I think you probably know exactly what I mean. So 00:06:36
there will be, I'm sure. 00:06:40
Certain individuals and and groups that clamor for her. 00:06:46
For her time. 00:06:49
But she's very knowledgeable and and well seasoned so I think she sure know how to handle. 00:06:50
How to handle that? But the idea of having a work plan and working with her the the timeline you've got I think is great. 00:06:57
Yeah, the committee, Lisa had talked about that before. We wanted whether it was John or whoever, she talked about updating the 00:07:03
work plan. I think that's a really good idea for her. Let's look at the 10 year plan first, like for the first month or two, then 00:07:08
convert that into your abilities. 00:07:13
Work plan. 00:07:18
For Dodge County, that's kind of what I'm thinking in my head, and I think the idea of updating us on the work plan is a good way 00:07:19
for us to manage. 00:07:23
And hold accountable. 00:07:27
Her so that's just my thoughts and and I know Lisa you have a lot of thoughts on that too. So I I think it's good though, I like 00:07:30
that I like the idea I. 00:07:34
I think we should be careful, like we don't want her to make her own. Like, well, you want to make this work plan like almost a 00:07:40
second ten year plan. Yeah, she sounds like she's. 00:07:45
With her experience, she sounds like she knows how to set boundaries. 00:07:51
And so. 00:07:55
Yeah, she sounds. Really. 00:07:57
Competent and. 00:07:59
She might just be ready to hit the road running so. 00:08:01
I think, yeah, I think that she is, yeah. Because like, she's in the field. 00:08:04
So I guess. 00:08:08
I like the idea. 00:08:11
I just don't know really what that means. Like is a work plan. What do you want to do this year? What do you want to do in six 00:08:13
months? 00:08:17
I think that's what the committee. 00:08:20
When we'll converse with her as to what we want to do? Lisa, I concur. I don't know what that means. I'm just saying here's my 00:08:22
initial thought. 00:08:25
That was that. That's all I'm saying. I don't have any details in my mind. I honestly think we should let her. 00:08:28
Just do whatever for three months and then give us a plan. 00:08:34
Good idea. She doesn't know what to plan about this job. She doesn't know the job yet. 00:08:38
I will not be here, but I really think we need to give her three or six months and then say hey. 00:08:42
Now that you've got your feet on the ground, do you have an idea? 00:08:47
You know, you've looked at the 10 year, What? You know, what are you thinking? Because if we ask her to do it now, she's gonna be 00:08:51
like, I don't know. Yeah. No, no. So. 00:08:55
But no so to that yes her first and and part of when we talked when was mentioned the idea giving her some time. 00:08:59
That's excellent. The the checklist, I guess so to speak for her for the first six months. 00:09:09
There's there's a. 00:09:14
A decent amount of things just to make sure she's comfortable with that she's met with the right individuals that. 00:09:16
She's aware of that certain projects and workload in the department, that's kind of laid out already. Yeah, but John did that, 00:09:21
right? Yes. Yep. 00:09:25
And then but also I would say. 00:09:30
Tania Mindeben and I have done some of that too. Just looking at OK, what are the things that need to be done in the first little 00:09:32
bit. 00:09:36
Beyond that, something that more broadly is happening right now. 00:09:39
Is for me as department director. 00:09:45
Conversations with department directors and development of individual department work. 00:09:47
Plans. 00:09:51
That they would be coming back and presenting to. They should be updating the county. 00:09:52
The committee of jurisdiction on what? 00:09:57
What work they're doing? 00:09:59
So the idea of having one before even. 00:10:01
The end of her first year, coming up with what's what really is now that you've been here. 00:10:05
You know, X number of months, probably 6 What? 00:10:10
What are the things that are most? 00:10:13
Concerning to get done before the end of the cycle. 00:10:15
And just like being a year and then. 00:10:18
Planning for how to develop the next years so by the time she comes to you, she'll already have some some suggestions and some 00:10:20
direction from. 00:10:24
Me on what? 00:10:29
Things need to be included in a plan. 00:10:30
So you've got something to work with when you're talking to her. 00:10:32
As well. But that'll be, yeah, that's six months down the road. 00:10:35
First or six months, it just could be sipping out of the fire hose. 00:10:39
Sorry. 00:10:44
Yeah. 00:10:45
She though that I say that she is. 00:10:47
Well experienced. So it's a fire hose, but it won't be. 00:10:50
As as big a fire hose as it would be for somebody else in the role. 00:10:54
Are you gonna stay, Cameron, or are you gonna leave now? I mean, you're welcome to stay, but if you're gonna leave, then I got 00:10:58
another thing I have to bring up. 00:11:01
OK, no, I I planned on being here at least until about 9:15. Well, I think we'll be we don't believe a pretty short agenda day. 00:11:05
OK. I just want to make sure thank you. Thank you for coming and I appreciate it. Be here for that's the meeting. I'm I'm moral 00:11:10
support for Cheryl, who doesn't need it, but that just helps me feel useful. So I'm going to hang out up here and the team do it 00:11:16
are doing a terrific job. They are. I probably bother her too much. I call her regularly. 00:11:21
Good. She emails me everything so she's really on it. 00:11:28
So thank you, Cheryl, you're also. 00:11:31
OK, appropriate. Let me know. We'll get Melissa on the water and into the watersheds. 00:11:34
But. 00:11:38
It's a good idea. Time and date. 00:11:39
Yeah, that's those are all good ideas, I mean. 00:11:41
And and we'll have. 00:11:43
Well, I think Lisa's idea of. 00:11:45
Give her three months just to. 00:11:47
And then we'll. 00:11:49
OK, let's have a conversation. Thanks. 00:11:49
I mean it takes it. Want to learn a job? 00:11:52
Like she's not gonna. 00:11:55
This is going to be. 00:11:57
Even though she knows what she's doing, she doesn't know Dodge County. And has she ever worked specifically in this role before? 00:11:58
This role now she's worked for this role and and both sides either reporting to or. 00:12:05
At A at a super state or federal level, working with. 00:12:11
Yeah, yeah. So. 00:12:14
So she's. Yeah. 00:12:15
Specific like we're talking Dodge County, No. 00:12:16
Well, she's worked. 00:12:20
She's worked in but was wasn't she multiple counties? 00:12:22
No, she used to be run permit preservation. 00:12:24
In the county before I started. 00:12:27
Right. 00:12:29
But she wasn't. She didn't have John's role before you. No, no. 00:12:29
Yeah, right. That's what I meant. 00:12:32
As a but your reservation, she's been here. 00:12:34
Yeah, been here before. 00:12:36
It's real. It's awesome. 00:12:38
OK, um. 00:12:41
Agency Advisor reports. 00:12:43
OK, I don't see anything. 00:12:47
Consider. 00:12:50
Grants and contributions for. 00:12:52
Farmers Healthy Soil Healthy Alliance in Dodge County. 00:12:55
Alliance and then in the packet, we'll need a motion for this. In the packet last year we gave $750 to each. 00:12:58
So. 00:13:06
Correct. 00:13:08
Andrew, do we not have a report on #8? 00:13:09
I they're not here. They're not here, they're not here. And they, their last were you at our last meeting? I can't remember. Well, 00:13:12
they just started up again and they were because of the late, you know, the shutdown and they were. 00:13:17
They had did, they were just getting going again at that time. 00:13:23
No, I do not have a report on that. I can I can follow up. 00:13:27
Or no, it's fine, I'm sorry. 00:13:30
Cheryl, did you hear anything from them either? Not? 00:13:32
OK, I'm not concerned because of their last. 00:13:35
Update. 00:13:38
Yeah. And then? 00:13:39
And what county committee is here is chairman is here. 00:13:41
10 and Dale and I are are the county committee over there. 00:13:46
OK, well, what? Is there anything to report then? 00:13:51
Well. 00:13:54
There's really no new programs that are. 00:13:55
There's so many knowledge, but no. 00:13:58
Sent out yet and my term is up so I am not going to be on again. 00:14:01
You know election is now and will be counting those votes. 00:14:07
February the 12th I think. 00:14:12
Just there isn't a lot going on, right? 00:14:17
OK. 00:14:20
When I add anything. 00:14:22
Well, there are some. 00:14:24
Not new, but. 00:14:25
Programs that are the second sign up and. 00:14:27
The word gets out. 00:14:31
To our the farmers, but. 00:14:32
The staff doesn't find out about it because they're not informed from the Washington, so they're kind of left behind, but. 00:14:34
There's supposed to be a payment coming out to farmers at the end of February, but. 00:14:40
From what I'm told, the staff says. 00:14:43
Might not happen. 00:14:45
At that timeline, staff hasn't seen any of the rules so. 00:14:47
How often do you guys meet? 00:14:51
We were monthly, but it's not. 00:14:55
We didn't meet during the shutdown and so. 00:14:57
OK, I'm sorry, I didn't. I didn't know that. I'm learning. 00:15:00
I didn't know how that exactly worked. 00:15:03
OK. 00:15:05
All right. Any other questions and for Dave or Dale? 00:15:06
OK, well. 00:15:11
We'll just let us know then if. 00:15:14
There should be someone next month when you think Dave, I would think. 00:15:16
OK, OK, going back to item number 9, grants and contributions for Dodge County farmers. Healthy soil, healthy water in Dodge 00:15:19
County. 00:15:24
Alliance. 00:15:29
Last year we gave $750 to each of them. 00:15:30
So what is your pleasure? 00:15:34
You guys are familiar with these groups? 00:15:36
Want to give the groups I probably should, you can. 00:15:40
You get personal financial benefit, don't have to abstain. 00:15:43
You know, that's really, it really is a personal benefit, right? So. 00:15:48
You know. 00:15:52
If the chair of the group said Dale, I'll give you a 500 bucks if you vote this way. 00:15:53
Oh. 00:16:00
Or 50, whatever. So I, I move, we continue the grants like last year. I think they're already part of the budget. 00:16:03
I'm making a positive impact that's well worth that the funding. 00:16:10
OK, we have a 1st to approve the grants. We have a second. 00:16:13
Lisa made the the 1st. 00:16:17
Second. Second Bill. 00:16:19
Any further discussion? 00:16:21
OK, all in favor signify by seeing aye? 00:16:23
Aye, those opposed. 00:16:25
OK, number. 00:16:27
10. 00:16:28
Consider grants and contributions for the Town of Lebanon Monitoring Station $5000. This is the last year of the five year 00:16:30
commitment. 00:16:34
We had talked about this five years ago. 00:16:39
We had already committed to this, so this is simply. 00:16:42
Reaffirming something we've already committed so that. 00:16:45
That's what this item is, and this is that little station. 00:16:48
Down on the river. 00:16:51
In the southern part of the county, actually, John took me there this year, so. 00:16:53
So that's. 00:16:57
That's what this is about. 00:16:58
Any any discussion? 00:17:01
I move, we continue from them. I'm sorry. 00:17:03
What do they give? Any feedback from them? Do we? 00:17:05
We've had feedback on the data that the gauge has provided, that is correct. We've had specific feedback. So they wouldn't even be 00:17:08
able to give us this for information without that. 00:17:13
Gauge. So when they are talking about water levels and flows and they did their chart, that's from the gauge. 00:17:18
So we did make a. 00:17:24
Non legal five year commitment because we can only do one budget at a time, but this is the end of our. 00:17:27
Verbal commitment. This is our fifth year. 00:17:35
So what you do next year is whatever, but. 00:17:38
They're all planning on us making that last payment. 00:17:41
Yeah, and the reason, I know you're right, we couldn't legally commit to it, but they were. 00:17:44
Yep, figuring out the money and this is what the town 11 on and there's other partners. So this is not just us. So it's 2 private 00:17:49
parties anymore. It's a collaboration of government entities. 00:17:54
So Lisa made a motion to approve and and yes, you can, by the way, you can see. 00:17:59
I think that's available online, isn't it? So the the the the information that is available and it's in the scope of? 00:18:04
All the water. 00:18:10
Is what I think the way they look at that. 00:18:12
That just it's extra information. So OK, we have a first, do we have a second? 00:18:13
I'll second it. 00:18:19
John second. 00:18:20
All those in favor signify by saying aye. 00:18:23
Aye aye, majority. 00:18:25
Let me all. 00:18:28
All of us unanimous past. 00:18:29
OK, consideration of the wildlife crop damage. 00:18:31
OK, Is that is that this right here? 00:18:36
These two, OK, so you got two of them. 00:18:38
I've got 2 damage claims for 2025, the first one in that. 00:18:41
Packet there is Rodney Johnson. 00:18:46
He was a goose enrollee. He does not have to meet any harvest objectives for geese. 00:18:47
Yeah, no, no hunter complaints at all. No issues. 00:18:52
I don't see any reason why we wouldn't approve his claim. 00:18:56
And then on on the second one. 00:18:59
Mike Bruman. He was a dear enrollee. 00:19:01
He had a harvest objective. He met that objective. 00:19:03
No issues and there was no. 00:19:06
Hunter access complaints or his property as well. 00:19:08
So I don't I don't see any issues with either one of these claims. 00:19:12
Rodney Johnson's claim the total damage was assessed was $1085.94. 00:19:16
There's a $500 deductible that comes off of that, so the total that he would get paid out is 58594. 00:19:21
And Mike Brummens total damage claim was $1363.39. 00:19:28
Minus that $500 deductible, his payment would be $863.39. 00:19:34
This money is passed through money. It comes from the DNR and gets paid to the to the farmer. So it doesn't doesn't come from the 00:19:40
county at all. 00:19:43
Anybody have any? 00:19:47
Any questions on either one of those? 00:19:47
Woodcraft are damaged. 00:19:49
They're listed on the. 00:19:51
On the on the bottom. So like I'm like Romans. He had sweet corn. 00:19:52
Peas and soybeans. 00:19:56
And then you can see that, you know the acres appraised. 00:19:59
You see it on the bottom of the. 00:20:01
Yeah. And then each, you know, the damage and undamaged, those are the samples that I took. 00:20:03
And then the prices that we set earlier this year based on? 00:20:08
So. 00:20:14
And then Rodney Johnson had soybeans. He had. 00:20:16
Sightings in all those fields this year so. 00:20:19
Be in yet further discussion. 00:20:28
OK. Do we have a motion to approve these? 00:20:31
I'll make a motion. It can makes a motion to approve. Do we have a second? 00:20:34
I'll second it, Dale a second. 00:20:38
Any further discussion on the damage claims? 00:20:40
Hearing none to call for a vote, those in favor say aye aye opposed. 00:20:44
OK, unanimous pass. 00:20:48
OK. 00:20:50
Is the 26th. 00:20:55
6:00 Ask Mike a question. Sure. 00:20:59
Do you have any thoughts of? 00:21:02
I mean the legisl. 00:21:04
Thinking of approving a hunting season for cranes, Would think you would have any. 00:21:06
Crane damage applications. 00:21:10
There's talk of. 00:21:14
Reimbursement for April. 00:21:15
So there probably a lot of enrollees just based on that. 00:21:17
For what did you say treatment that that goes on the corn and it makes the corn seed. This is with the crane makes them sick and 00:21:20
then. 00:21:24
They only eat a few seeds of it once they try it and then leave it alone, but that's part of the requirement in order to get. 00:21:28
Or training. 00:21:37
They would have to save a color that is currently the requirement. 00:21:38
You have to be using it, you mean? Yeah, OK, they get reimbursed for it. It's quite crazy to put on on the seat. So if they'll get 00:21:41
reimbursed for it, I think there would be a lot of attention drawn for for that reason, a lot of fuel for that. I did not know 00:21:45
that they. 00:21:49
I knew it was bad for them, but I actually didn't understand that they taste bad for them. 00:21:54
Where they get a reaction that's not lethal. 00:21:59
Yeah, it makes me a lot happier because I was always wondering like. 00:22:02
So there is no reimbursement at the present time. No, there's not, not until they become a huntable species. Once there is then 00:22:05
there would be an eligible species for the family program. Right now there be, would there be a like Purdue, would there be a 00:22:09
amount of? 00:22:13
Cranes to shoot some similar, there would be you can get a crane permit now, right, You have to pay $100 for it and one of the 00:22:17
requirements is that you have to using that permit. 00:22:22
But typically farmers will get 5. 00:22:27
Tags right now. 00:22:30
For cranes they can. Anybody can apply and get it as long as. 00:22:32
They're using gave a pill. 00:22:35
Do you think they'll ever change factors? You gotta leave them later. You'd be able to use them. 00:22:36
No, they don't want to make it a. 00:22:40
Recreational hunting opportunity. 00:22:42
They want to keep it, you know, as a. 00:22:45
A damage control. 00:22:48
You know, uh. 00:22:50
Thing not a hunting opportunity. 00:22:50
And concern as if you. 00:22:53
You know, start lead letting people keep them to use them for taxpayer yard. 00:22:54
Or consume them or whatever. That would be more of a hunting opportunity. 00:22:59
I don't know why they. 00:23:02
Allow that for deer, but not. 00:23:04
No geese or cranes or. 00:23:06
Other species but. 00:23:08
Any other questions? 00:23:15
All right. 00:23:18
Move on to the next item. 00:23:19
Which is the farmland preservation. 00:23:21
Note updated notice of non compliance and cancellation. 00:23:23
Just need 2 signatures. 1 is a voluntary notice and not compliance. 00:23:28
The landowner just wants out. 00:23:33
He doesn't really. He's borderline if he has enough qualifying acres. 00:23:35
As far as the Dor is concerned. 00:23:40
And the other is cancellation and non compliance. 00:23:42
Landowner. 00:23:46
Has a satellite farm. 00:23:47
That. 00:23:50
The the cattle were abandoned. 00:23:50
On the barnyard, which before made him ineligible. 00:23:52
And now the cattle have been removed, so we're going to sign that farm back up. 00:23:56
So. So what's the net effect of the acres? 00:23:59
On for both of them about. 00:24:05
The. 00:24:07
They know we always want to know. Like how many? Let's see. 00:24:08
Better maybe next month maybe you could do it if you want it actually. So, so we'll be signing up another 103 acres. 00:24:13
OK. And then removing. 00:24:20
35 acres, OK. 00:24:27
OK, right direction. 00:24:29
All right, Thank you. We need, we need a motion, I think Brenda straight. 00:24:32
OK. We need a motion to approve this. OK, John, we have a second. 00:24:36
Lisa. 00:24:41
OK. Those in favor of updating the farmland preservation on compliance and cancellation? 00:24:42
Those in favor signify by saying aye. 00:24:49
Aye. 00:24:52
Those opposed. 00:24:52
OK, passed. 00:24:53
Quick signum, so we have to back data. 00:24:55
What do we have to date it as December 30th? 00:24:58
All right. Is that is that OK because we didn't have a December meeting? 00:25:02
The last day of the. 00:25:10
Year. OK, got it. Yeah, we didn't have a meeting in December. Something percent. 00:25:11
Yeah, John did talk to me about that. 00:25:18
Otherwise that we would have had to have a meeting, but he said we didn't have to. 00:25:20
I do. I do remember. 00:25:24
30. 00:25:27
OK. Thank you very much, John. 00:25:29
FSC and NRCS have come. 00:25:33
Oh, OK. 00:25:34
All right. 00:25:37
Which one you guys want to talk first? 00:25:39
Sawyer, come on up. 00:25:43
You almost missed us. We're moving right along. OK. We're glad you're here. 00:25:47
All right. Nice to see you guys. All is here. 00:25:53
So basically our workload right now. 00:25:57
We finished all of our payments for work completed. 00:26:00
In fiscal year 20. 00:26:03
5. 00:26:05
Basically that was our CSP and equip programs, although all those have been certified and paid on. 00:26:07
Right now our main workload is our big. 00:26:13
Environmental Quality incentive program. 00:26:16
Batching deadline. 00:26:19
Basically all of our applications we received throughout the year. 00:26:21
Kind of get batched for this January 30th deadline we have. 00:26:25
We rank them in our systems and then basically it spits out which ones will get cost here. 00:26:29
So we have high hopes for a lot to get. 00:26:35
Funded this go around but they haven't finalized our fun pools yet. 00:26:38
Or what our cost estimates are going to be. So we're kind of waiting on some clarification on that. 00:26:44
As soon as we have that, we'll jump. 00:26:50
All in basically to get those ranked. 00:26:52
I guess the majority of these applications we are seeing are for practices like cover crops. 00:26:57
No, till some pollinator planting, some high tunnel stuff. 00:27:03
Some grazing operations. 00:27:08
We also have some like duck scrapes and some. 00:27:11
Runoff control stuff. 00:27:14
Umm, basically by March is when we're expecting. 00:27:19
To hear whether our applications have been selected for cost share. So we have like 2 months to get all this work done for this. 00:27:23
Also kind of a shout out to Jared Winter from the county he's been. 00:27:32
He's been really helpful with getting grazing plans and construction designs to us in a timely fashion. 00:27:36
Without him, we probably wouldn't have met our deadline to get all of our equip. 00:27:43
Grazing applications done in time so. 00:27:47
Just a shout out to him. 00:27:50
But that is all I have unless you guys have any questions. 00:27:53
But how many applications did you get? 00:27:56
Well, since they roll over from years back, I mean, there's probably. 00:27:59
I don't have it off top. I had probably 75 applications in the county. 00:28:05
But then they get screened so. 00:28:10
People that are actually like active and talking to us and. 00:28:12
We have some planning done. There's probably. 00:28:15
Maybe 30 that are going to be highly screened. 00:28:18
So of those 30, we're looking to get some funded. 00:28:22
So. 00:28:24
That's where we're at right now. 00:28:26
Thank you. OK. 00:28:29
Thank you, Sawyer. 00:28:31
Hey, Matt. 00:28:33
So what we've got going on, so we got the our dairy program, DMC, they reauthorized that started last week. 00:28:40
We got a short turn around deadline of February 26 for that so. 00:28:51
Working through. 00:28:56
Getting our producers signed up. 00:28:57
As soon as we can. 00:29:00
We have the SDRP phase one and phase two program which we had talked about last time. 00:29:02
That. 00:29:09
Deadline of April 30th is approaching. 00:29:10
Right now. 00:29:14
Our applications have kind of slowed on that, so most guys have probably been in on that. 00:29:15
There is a new program out there on the horizon. It's called Bridges. 00:29:22
You guys probably have heard something about it. 00:29:28
They put out a few press releases about having to get your crops reported by December 19th. 00:29:31
And then the last one was announcing what the payment rates per crop are going to be. 00:29:38
As far as other information, there has been nothing else released on it. 00:29:44
There is no procedure that has been released. There is no sign up. 00:29:49
Or anything like that. 00:29:53
That has been released for it. 00:29:55
Just to give you guys a little bit of what we kind of know, we're anticipating something coming out at the end of February, 00:29:58
assuming after the DMC sign up is over. 00:30:02
But other than that, we have no other information on it. 00:30:08
And then as well as CRP, there has been no information released on any potential signups there yet. 00:30:12
We're still waiting for. 00:30:20
Some clarification as far as crepes or continuous? 00:30:22
And green roll. 00:30:27
So. 00:30:28
Right now we're kind of in all. 00:30:29
Waiting. Hold there. 00:30:31
So that's all we got. 00:30:33
For right now. 00:30:35
On the other side, our FSA county committee election. 00:30:38
The ballots went out here in January. 00:30:43
I think the last day to get ballots in is February 7th or somewhere in there. 00:30:46
So we're scheduled to have our election on February 12th for Dodge County. 00:30:51
And then we will proceed. 00:30:56
With our county committee as normal starting March 1st. So everything there got pushed back. Usually we do this in January. 00:30:59
It got pushed back because of the government shutdown, so we should be. 00:31:07
All up to speed from the shutdown after March 1st. 00:31:11
Do you have candidates for all the position or the positions? 00:31:16
Position that was up was Dave Rollings. 00:31:20
He is not. 00:31:23
Running. So yes, we had. 00:31:25
One candidate on our ballot. 00:31:28
Roger Par part. 00:31:30
I believe. 00:31:32
OK, so. 00:31:32
Hopefully nothing too dramatic there, but we should have. 00:31:35
A qualified candidate. 00:31:39
Any other questions for me? 00:31:41
OK. Appreciate your time, guys. Thank you. Thank you. 00:31:44
OK. 00:31:51
Going back to item number 13. 00:31:52
Approved the 2026 dues. 00:31:54
For Wisconsin Land and Water Conservation Association. 00:31:57
Which is $17156.16 that was in your packet, a copy of it. 00:32:02
And the Southern Area Association, which I believe is $190.00, is that correct 19190? 00:32:07
I move, we approve the dues, OK? Lisa approves second. 00:32:16
OK, John, a second. 00:32:20
Any discussion? 00:32:22
Those in favor signify by saying aye. 00:32:25
Aye. 00:32:27
Those opposed OK unanimously passed. 00:32:29
And I just say something since regarding the dues. 00:32:32
On the Southern Area Association, I was the committee's Rep. 00:32:36
I'm going to be done in March. 00:32:39
So. 00:32:41
I'm just. 00:32:42
Putting out a notice. You might want to discuss it more at the next meeting. 00:32:43
But it's a really, really important role. 00:32:47
Especially because the county. 00:32:50
Our new conservationist. 00:32:53
Hasn't attended any of that. 00:32:55
You know she's probably not. 00:32:57
Obviously. 00:33:00
Couldn't have been involved in it as a. 00:33:01
As a conservationist. 00:33:03
So maybe she was many years ago, John. 00:33:05
You know, but often. 00:33:08
If your staff. 00:33:11
Generally. 00:33:12
Generally, the staff that goes. 00:33:14
Like when you go to the big conference, it's that they'll say it's a committee member and a staff member often. 00:33:16
So. 00:33:22
It's unlikely that she's participated before, so it would be extremely helpful. 00:33:24
If you guys really gave some thought. 00:33:29
How often do they meet? 00:33:33
You know, it's it's not monthly. 00:33:35
It's a. 00:33:38
It's really. 00:33:40
If somebody gets involved, it'd be really good to consider. 00:33:41
Going for sure to the. 00:33:46
To the conference. 00:33:48
Because they have just a ton of workshops and they're just really excellent. 00:33:49
And a number of their meetings like this one coming up on. 00:33:56
This week. 00:34:03
Which is Thursday morning, which I blocked off even though I didn't reply. I'm just it's I'm just gonna appear by. 00:34:04
Zoom, but you also get a really good update. 00:34:10
From the legislative committee. 00:34:14
Sometimes on what? So that's how I learned all about how the. 00:34:16
State. 00:34:19
We. We. 00:34:21
We came very close to meeting the state requirements. 00:34:23
The legal requirements for funding conservation. 00:34:26
Positions. 00:34:29
But we never actually met it. But we got pretty close and then it. 00:34:31
You know it's gone down again, but. 00:34:34
I I'm not up to date on that because I haven't been to the last meeting, but I'm going to be at this one on Thursday. 00:34:36
I'd be happy to give a really short report if there's anything worth reporting. 00:34:43
I think it'd be a good idea in the future to have the person report on it. I super important. If I say in March, hey, does 00:34:48
somebody want to do this? Nobody's going to have any time to think about it. It's really helpful. It's very informative. 00:34:54
The he's been the chair for everybody's not these super active is our Columbia County. 00:35:02
Conservationist hurt. 00:35:08
Blanking on the last name. 00:35:10
How many counties are in that? 00:35:12
Yeah, yeah. He's just, he's just a whiz. 00:35:15
So you know it's the. 00:35:18
I don't know the exact number, but if you go to the Southern Area Association it has its own website. 00:35:21
Apart from. 00:35:26
The whole statewide group. 00:35:28
And and then the conference is the whole statewide group. 00:35:30
Umm, but. 00:35:35
It's just, you know, the chunk of counties. 00:35:38
Southeast. 00:35:40
Portion. 00:35:42
So we'll make a, we'll put that on future agenda item for next month and we'll just keep it on there until I'm just throwing it 00:35:43
out now because it's. 00:35:47
You know. 00:35:50
End of January and. 00:35:51
You know the. 00:35:53
It would just be really helpful to get you guys to think about it or maybe I know we got. 00:35:55
What two people missing 1? 00:36:01
Just just been, just been. 00:36:03
Ben is not running. 00:36:05
Oh, OK. Well then it's you guys. 00:36:07
So. 00:36:09
It's really important somebody be on it. 00:36:10
When I noticed when we go there and the only counties they go just one staff, one staff, one staff. 00:36:13
Nobody on the committee's there. 00:36:19
And nobody on the committee has a clue. 00:36:21
What's coming down the Pike? 00:36:23
So it it, it's really important for that reason. 00:36:26
OK, one additional thing. Unless Standards Oversight Council. 00:36:29
I've been reached out by some farm organizations that. 00:36:34
They're having hearings at 590 standards, maybe changing them. 00:36:37
Do you have any updates, John, or what's being discussed? 00:36:41
No, not a fan, just. 00:36:44
Want to do some discussions on that? 00:36:46
I think probably be a little more strict on the DNR end of it. 00:36:50
Is that the soil depth stuff? 00:36:54
No, 590 is like window replication. OK, thank you. 00:36:56
If you want to put that on the agenda, yeah, If you could also put that on the agenda, Cheryl. 00:37:02
Update on the 590. 00:37:06
That's a new the nutrient plans that. 00:37:08
That's part of the part of the nutrient plan requirements, OK. 00:37:10
Yeah, if you want to give us an update as things is. 00:37:16
Does that just? Is that administrative? 00:37:19
Lee done by the department. Is that how that works? 00:37:21
I mean, we don't push. 00:37:24
I mean, we follow those rules or environments based on what the state. So now they're going through discussions to see if that 00:37:27
needs to be updated or changed and then once they make their decision, then that will get. 00:37:31
Pushed down to the counties. 00:37:35
I guarantee you that would be a topic of discussion of the. 00:37:37
Southern Area, South Station. This is where you find out what's coming, What's being discussed? Will that be administrative 00:37:40
rulings? Is that what that is? 00:37:43
Like, you know, the Legislature didn't look at this, that that agency. 00:37:48
Decides not. OK, Yeah, let us know. Maybe you'll hear something about it this week. 00:37:51
I don't know. 00:37:55
Because you know. 00:37:56
They haven't even finalized it. My I'm gonna essay meeting is probably my last this week so I doubt I'll know, but whoever takes 00:37:57
over. 00:38:01
If you are participating in the meetings. 00:38:05
You can stay on top of it. 00:38:07
Listen, you attend virtually or do you actually physically go? I've done both if it's Madison. 00:38:16
I'll go there. 00:38:22
You know, umm. 00:38:23
I would have. 00:38:25
I would have been happy to stay involved, but I can't because I'm not running. So I can't, I can't be on it. I get just go and 00:38:26
attend as a person of the public, but like. 00:38:30
It's not like I'm going to be connected to the committee. 00:38:34
How long have you done that? 00:38:40
Years. 00:38:43
Thank you. 00:38:44
I don't know. 00:38:45
OK. 00:38:50
Update on tree sales. 00:38:52
So the tree sale is still ongoing. As of date, there are four species that we were sold out of. 00:38:57
Fraser fir, river Birch, common lilac and American plum. 00:39:03
We are also kind of low on. 00:39:08
Some other species White spruce, Colorado blue spruce. 00:39:10
And black spruce and Serviceberry are low on stock. 00:39:14
So if anybody wants any of those, get your order in now. We're looking forward to the end of April for pick up day, which will be 00:39:17
held at the fairgrounds. 00:39:22
Reminder postcard will also go out to other participants about the end of March. 00:39:26
Further pick up with the information. 00:39:31
So I just throw out a hint to to consider for tree sales years ago. 00:39:33
We got. 00:39:38
You know a lot. 00:39:39
And then John's like, I don't know what to do with all these trees, but now I feel like we've overcorrected because the last few 00:39:40
years if we ran out of this and we ran out of that. 00:39:44
And so. 00:39:48
We're really not meeting. 00:39:49
The needs of our county if we're running out. 00:39:51
Before it's even done. 00:39:55
You know. 00:39:56
So I'm in a. 00:39:57
So does he feels like here we go again, but I regardless. 00:39:59
You might want to consider adjusting it up a little. We can look at that. We do look at the year prior to what. 00:40:04
Sometimes, like if we. 00:40:10
Pick up a new species that we haven't tried in a while. We'll start with the lower number because we don't want to be left with a 00:40:12
lot at the end. Is that why these are are low? Because they're newer? 00:40:16
Coming. We didn't order that much because that was the first. 00:40:20
Big sellers. So next year will probably increase it. All right, OK. But then there are some that we have ordered a lot in the 00:40:26
past. 00:40:29
Like this year we're sending quite a few backflows, that one spruce I think, was it a blue spruce or? 00:40:33
Normally we've sold a lot. Now we're. 00:40:39
So it's just not consistent. 00:40:43
Just keep it on the agenda. That'll be next month, too. 00:40:51
When is a cutoff on for that? 00:40:55
We saw right up to the end of it. 00:40:58
Until everything is gone, I mean, well, we kept the call them in a week or two to send back what we're going to send back. 00:41:00
OK. And then we'll celebrate to the end actually a day of pickup we still have. 00:41:06
Trees usually pursue. 00:41:10
He's asking what that date is. 00:41:11
Oh well, basically it'd be the pickup date on April. Yeah, week in April. 00:41:12
OK, OK. 00:41:17
OK, Cheryl, update on the poster contest. 00:41:20
I apologize on that one, I forgot to put the pictures in your packet. 00:41:24
I did bring them down, they are on the table if anyone wants to look. You can pass around if you want. 00:41:29
So we had four posters that came into our office this year. 00:41:35
They were all from Lamira so. 00:41:39
Three of them came from the Saint John's Lutheran Church in Lamarra and one came from the Lamyra Middle School High School. 00:41:42
The winning one was now taken over to Baraboo to move on to the area contest. 00:41:49
And the winning one is the one that's in the paper form. 00:41:55
Yep, she won on that. It was a bigger sized poster. 00:41:59
And. 00:42:03
We scored them. 00:42:04
And actually it was by one point of a difference between the two posters. So are these all the different grade levels? So actually 00:42:05
our grade level this year was only four through 6. 00:42:11
So kind of was only one category. 00:42:18
Multiple. 00:42:21
Categories. 00:42:23
There you go. I wish we had more. Yeah. 00:42:25
We're kind of debating if maybe we should just pull the poster contest back. 00:42:28
Because I guess they. 00:42:32
Started out and they had a lot. 00:42:33
And then it really downsized. And so we kind of then at one point we didn't have a poster contest. 00:42:35
And then they brought it back and then we had more again. 00:42:41
So. 00:42:44
It's kind of that's what I'm going to be talking with Melissa about. 00:42:45
And seeing what her thoughts are going to be. This is the winner. That was the winner, correct? And it was a bigger. 00:42:48
A bigger size sheet of paper. 00:42:54
What they had. 00:42:57
Yeah, who are the judges? 00:42:59
So all of us in the office judged. 00:43:01
OK, every single. 00:43:03
Every single one of us in the office had a little sheet to fill out and then judged it. 00:43:05
OK, so, but yeah, she won the young lady one by one point. So it was really close with the. 00:43:10
Last poster that was. 00:43:17
Brought out. 00:43:19
So, umm. 00:43:21
So that goes up to the next level and then does the area contest and they have the contest and then is that when it goes to the? 00:43:22
If they win. 00:43:29
Convention, we see them or to, you know, conference, yeah, that comes from there then. Yeah. And then if they went at the area 00:43:30
contest, it's moved on to state. 00:43:34
Might be good. 00:43:40
So. 00:43:41
Yeah, and I don't think the. 00:43:43
Paper form just. 00:43:44
Just just what the post direction looked like. 00:43:46
Well, it's actually like looking from underground up. 00:43:48
Yeah, that is kind of amazing creative, yeah. 00:43:51
Yeah. 00:43:55
So. 00:43:58
But yeah, so the that poster, I did actually drive over to Baraboo and drop off so they could actually see the bolster. I thought 00:44:01
that was best than sending a photo. If you find out if that person won before conference, could you tell us? 00:44:07
I can, I want to make sure to I usually go look at them, but I mean, if it's if it's from our area, I would don't they don't they 00:44:12
vote on it at the conference. Yeah, I think they did. They put them all up. 00:44:17
And oh, that's all. That's where they really do. It might be nice to know like. 00:44:21
But we wouldn't know until the conference, I guess. Tell the conference, yeah. And then it's the big highlight at the end, so. 00:44:25
Cool. 00:44:31
But I guess if they let me know that she moves on to state, I can. Yeah. Let us let us know that. Yeah, I guess that's what I 00:44:31
meant. 00:44:34
OK. Thank you. 00:44:43
Going to committee member. 00:44:45
Ports. 00:44:46
I guess I'm first lakes in a city district. We met on the 13th of January. 00:44:48
The our advisor from Hay and Associates was not present and that's the main thing we're working on. 00:44:54
That is our regarding the. 00:45:01
Designed for the dredging project. 00:45:04
It was decided by. 00:45:06
Three of the commissioners there are going to take a deeper dive in with the with our consultant at Hayne Associates to confirm 00:45:08
the completed tasks and dates because the lake management plan has very specific things and we're going to make sure. 00:45:14
Everything is is going along according to plan. 00:45:20
The plan is to have have. 00:45:23
The options available for our constituents at the August annual meeting. 00:45:26
With goal of construction starting in 2027. 00:45:30
So that's where they're at on that. 00:45:34
Another interesting issue as we've been talking about water levels the last. 00:45:38
Year, uh. 00:45:42
The committee members discussed the issue of little to no snow on Lake Senissippi. 00:45:44
In the effect of the plan, February water withdraw because there's less water, the lake is low and there's no snow. 00:45:49
Shane will be meeting with. 00:45:56
The uses for new dam operator because they they hired a new one. The longtime damn operator retired. 00:45:58
And to discuss the issue and report back to the committee next month. 00:46:04
So, and I will not be at the committee next month because that's the same day as WCA legislative conference in Madison. 00:46:08
But that's so that's the update I have. 00:46:14
OK, next would be Beaver Dam. 00:46:18
OK, thanks. We met with the DNR Fishery Bureau to review the first part of their work this year. 00:46:21
And they will be electrofishing Trestle Bay and Rakes Bay. 00:46:27
This late winter and spring. 00:46:31
And they will be counting the number of rough fish there. 00:46:34
And see what the trend is. 00:46:39
20/24 was 713. 00:46:40
Rough fish per acre. 00:46:43
2025 went up to 928. 00:46:45
For 2026, we'll see what that count will be. 00:46:48
The part is 89. 00:46:52
Joe Kern has been promoted at the City of Beaver Dam to the parks. 00:46:56
Supervisor and Forrester. 00:47:00
A Goodman, He'll do a good job for us. We place he John Newman a long time. 00:47:02
Park supervisor there. 00:47:06
The city of Beaver Dam is considering hometown status. 00:47:09
Which gives them some opportunities for. 00:47:13
The advancement of the Town Center. Tourism. 00:47:16
And identifying the lake as a primary asset, a big asset for the community. 00:47:19
The Beaver Dam Lake District has gone out with a number of requests for quotes. 00:47:25
For a spring work. 00:47:29
We have a point intercept survey out for quotation. 00:47:30
Aunt Rake Spade. 00:47:35
This is to count the vegetation out in that Bay. 00:47:36
To identify the change from year to year. 00:47:39
And also for native plantings. 00:47:42
In aquatic vegetation. 00:47:45
So we want to get in there to get a portion of the available stock. 00:47:47
For this spring. 00:47:51
We have. 00:47:53
Four sites we're looking to. 00:47:54
Improve on one in water. 00:47:57
In three shoreline. 00:47:59
Call for today. 00:48:02
I saw they have a shoreline seminar coming up. 00:48:03
So I thought, saw that, I guess that's later on the agenda, but I just, I saw, I thought of that. So go ahead, Dale. 00:48:06
So for Fox Lake. 00:48:12
Tracy, who is the CED of the committee? 00:48:15
Has been working. 00:48:18
With EOR and DNR to get the plank survey which is required by the DNR for the lake management plan. 00:48:19
And which? 00:48:26
Fox Lake had paid for. 00:48:27
But the DNR says they never received. 00:48:29
And the district was going so far as to maybe even looking at litigation. 00:48:32
Since they spent over $20,000 for this plan that they never sent. 00:48:36
Well, it turns out that the ER. 00:48:41
Did send the report. 00:48:43
But never received confirmation that it was received from the DNR. 00:48:45
After emails going back and forth. 00:48:50
The the the plan, I mean the plan survey did get sent to the DNR even though it was not in the format that the DNR wanted it. 00:48:55
So. 00:49:03
Thanks to Arthur Watkinson and a couple of others at DNR they went. 00:49:04
Emails went back and forth. They finally got into a format that would satisfy the DNR. 00:49:08
There was 1 misidentification of an invasive species plant that. 00:49:13
Brought some raised some eyebrows because they'd never seen it before and it found out it was a mistaken identity. 00:49:17
They're assuming so. 00:49:22
That got straightened out. 00:49:24
So we hope that's. 00:49:26
Behind us now. 00:49:27
So is it the survey format or the application format that was an error? 00:49:29
Well, not only was the survey format in error. 00:49:34
The way they want to see it presented, but. 00:49:37
Their methods were an error too. They used ropes and were supposed to use stakes and there was other things involved, you know, 00:49:40
that they got corrected on SO. 00:49:43
Because we're doing the same type of thing in a smaller scale. 00:49:47
I don't want to make the same mistake. 00:49:50
Yeah, Arthur goes to our meetings. He didn't go to this last one, but he goes to most of them. That's helpful to keep the 00:49:53
communication. 00:49:57
We're asking the questions throughout the meetings. I think about it, you know here, you know about. 00:50:00
Stuff all different. I'm not going to go through them. That's good. 00:50:04
OK, the district has set aside. 00:50:10
$500 to pay for any farmers that want to attend the healthy still healthy water. 00:50:13
Soil Expo on February 4th. There's a $50 admission. 00:50:17
So that means they'd be willing to. 00:50:22
Pay for 10 farmers in the Fox Lake watershed to attend. 00:50:23
Tracy actually sent out 89 postcards to farmers with this offer. 00:50:27
We could be lucky to get two or three, but we'll see. 00:50:33
To actually. 00:50:36
Attend. 00:50:37
There was more discussions on our soil testing of wetlands around Canberra Creek. 00:50:40
Looking for legacy phosphorus. 00:50:45
We had that discussion with Mike Sorgi and Mark Riedel back in December. 00:50:48
And they said they would come up with a plan, although. 00:50:54
They wanted to wait till February, they wanted some time to do this, so we're going to wait till the February meeting to. 00:50:57
Proceed with this. 00:51:02
But there are. 00:51:04
Over 650 acres of wetlands around Canberra Creek that is actually owned by the DNR. 00:51:05
They call it a fish hatchery area. 00:51:11
So. 00:51:13
The year will actually be testing their own. 00:51:14
Wetlands. 00:51:17
For phosphorus. 00:51:18
See how that goes? 00:51:19
So our next meeting is scheduled for February 26th, the change of date because of some. 00:51:21
Other people had in conflicts so. 00:51:26
That's all I have. 00:51:29
Hey, moving to upcoming events on the area meeting on January 29th. 00:51:33
Lisa, are you? 00:51:37
Talked on that. 00:51:38
Thank you. Soil Health and Expo on the February 4th. You just mentioned that, Dale. 00:51:40
And then the big thing is we'll turn it over to Cheryl. 00:51:45
For the conference, for the. 00:51:48
W OK. 00:51:50
Yeah, that's their breakout. Thank you. 00:51:59
So Cameron is helping me. 00:52:02
Pass out. 00:52:04
The breakout. 00:52:06
For the conference coming up. 00:52:08
They were also emailed to you. 00:52:12
And gone over. 00:52:14
Specifically, what kind of breakout they had, what questions I needed answered to get you guys registered for that conference. 00:52:16
I do have back. 00:52:24
From Dale and Jared. 00:52:27
Of what they plan on doing. If anyone else wants to attend, that's fine. I know Lisa had said she could not. 00:52:29
But I do need that. Breakout your breakouts. 00:52:35
Sessions picked out. I do need to know if your spouse is attending. 00:52:37
If they are going to be attending any breakouts and what breakouts they want to attend. 00:52:42
I do need that. 00:52:48
Today. 00:52:49
I stated in my emails that were sent out to the members I. 00:52:50
Hotel, I need to know if you're going to stay for the. 00:52:54
Wednesday banquet. Any food restrictions? 00:52:57
Anything like that? But early bird registration does end January 30th. 00:53:01
And when I go into the website, I have to individually put all of you guys in separately. 00:53:05
So it's. 00:53:11
Going to be a process for that too. 00:53:12
Can I ask something like? 00:53:14
I know John. Like really, really wanted. 00:53:16
To do it for everyone, but I don't understand why you can't be like, hey, go on the website. 00:53:18
Log yourself in. 00:53:25
Put what you're attending. 00:53:26
Because I think we pay for that for you and so you would have to have our payment information then. 00:53:28
Like I'd have to give you the my cart, my card to pay for it and everything. 00:53:34
I think that was probably what it came down to. 00:53:39
Of why John did it. 00:53:42
Is this is this conference? 00:53:45
You know, it's been supervisors usually only bring one staff member. Is it designed for staff too, do you think? I mean, I think I 00:53:47
think it would be I mean like when I go I. 00:53:50
It's like so deep and so good how the stuff we learned, there's so many. 00:53:54
Is it does it something in the future? Do we want to bring more staff? That'll be something maybe we'll talk to Melissa about in 00:53:59
the future. There many times it is made for staff too, and most counties bring more staff than county committee members. We're 00:54:03
kind of the. 00:54:08
Oddball I would like. 00:54:13
To see more staff go could. 00:54:14
If I don't know and we'll see down the road, I mean, just saying it's so it's so specific. 00:54:16
And Jarrett approached me on it. 00:54:21
Because I didn't know about it either until he approached me and said, hey, I usually go to this conference. 00:54:24
You know, can I get information for it? And I was like, OK, because. 00:54:28
Being I haven't been here a year yet, I didn't know so. 00:54:32
You know, and so he's like, I want to go and here's my breakout in for, you know, I printed it for him and I gave it to him. 00:54:35
Thinking staff would be OK to go since he said he's already went before. 00:54:42
Very, very beneficial for staff because of anything new in conservation is brought up at this conference and then this is 1 where. 00:54:47
If you want to. 00:54:53
Consider and you haven't done it. This is where they they'll have the. 00:54:54
Word meeting. 00:54:59
The Southern Area Association board meeting. 00:55:00
Who is at the conference? 00:55:02
Gets at the same conference. 00:55:04
So even if you haven't decided if you sit in on the board meeting. 00:55:07
Some I guess. 00:55:11
It's a huge key right to to bring info back to the committee. 00:55:12
If unless the committee objects, I would recommend that we would have. 00:55:17
Shirley, tally up for the supervisors, check the budget that John put in and if we have extra room, why don't we offer that to 00:55:22
staff? Would that be OK with you? 00:55:26
If other state if it met within our budget. 00:55:30
Miss, Mr. Administrator, I think there's already. 00:55:32
Yeah, like Jared. 00:55:36
Jared plans on going so OK now. 00:55:37
Just make sure Rose and. 00:55:40
And then you go. 00:55:42
Yeah, budget was for sure the other. 00:55:43
Other thing that I didn't happen to know about. 00:55:45
And I was going to. 00:55:48
Talk with Cameron about that as well. I do. I do concur with Dale. 00:55:49
If as we consider our budget next year, if we're on five on this committee or I think it is something we need to look at to bring 00:55:52
our raise our people. 00:55:57
To help them, support them, educate them. I think that'd be a good investment in the future because I agree it's important for 00:56:01
staff, but. 00:56:05
I'm telling you, they're way more educated than we are. It's really critical to get more committee members there so that we 00:56:09
understand, we make the decisions. Yeah, Yeah. I mean, you've gone I. 00:56:13
Seeing Dale there numerous times and sure. 00:56:18
Not like you don't pick something up when you go, right? I mean, every time you pick someone, I feel I don't know anything. But I 00:56:21
mean, if you're not a producer and it's not your occupation. 00:56:26
Even if it is, you learn stuff. 00:56:31
So. 00:56:33
Generally, I think the committee producers go to more technical ones and people like me go to. 00:56:34
Like umm. 00:56:40
I don't need to know how to do exactly this for that kind of crop procedure. 00:56:41
But that's why they have so many. 00:56:45
Many, many different. 00:56:47
Options to go to. 00:56:49
Yeah, we usually, I think we should have breakfast with Mr. Krueger. Remember, he updates us and Dale, I know at least Dale and I, 00:56:51
and it's really good. Yeah, we really good for from a political point of view, we're we're we're with them. And last year then he 00:56:57
really. And then I went to the legislature for accounting. We hit it hard. We hit it was good. It's where I learned about testing. 00:57:03
And I came back and I talked to John and said, hey, why don't we do some water testing? That's like 7-8 years ago. 00:57:09
OK. And then regarding? 00:57:15
Cameron. I had talked to Cameron in the hallway the other day. I had requested that. 00:57:17
Our new conservationists go if she can. I just want to make sure she gets in the cutoff, you know, because I so anyway, you guys 00:57:21
are working on that and we can get her to go. I really wanted to go if she could. 00:57:27
I think that's a great way to network up with other people. 00:57:33
Who are all the other conservationists statewide? 00:57:36
That would be that'd be helpful for her as well as what so pick up you would allow that camera and I'd appreciate no, she's not an 00:57:39
employee yet, but I think we should still say we can still send that cider off. 00:57:43
OK. Anything else on that? 00:57:49
OK, so stay after the meeting, talk to Cheryl if you're planning going give her the info. She made a form she. 00:57:51
She by the way, she did work on this and made this and. 00:57:57
She wanted to make it easier for us, so that's what's her her new way of. We circle it and she gave us instruction, so I thought 00:58:00
that was good. 00:58:04
So. 00:58:07
OK, next meeting. 00:58:09
February 23rd, 8:30. 00:58:10
Good. 00:58:12
Do you know what our March meeting is going to be or do you have an estimate? 00:58:14
Any I don't know if there's a reason it would. 00:58:18
Be different or. 00:58:20
March should be. 00:58:25
It's 55 Mondays in March, so it was it going to be the 30th. 00:58:28
23rd. 00:58:37
Yes. So everyone's OK with February 23rd for next month? 00:58:39
I'm sorry, I have a doctor appointment, but that's fine. I'm not going to be here permanently, so I'm not going to move the whole 00:58:45
meeting. 00:58:47
So February would be my last meeting. 00:58:51
You would be here in March. 00:58:54
If it's the 23rd, no. I I have a doctor appointment that I cannot. 00:58:58
But I'm saying it it would be my last meeting anyway so. 00:59:04
It's not like it's critical if I'm here. 00:59:08
OK. So we're OK with the February date for today. Everybody's good. 00:59:12
OK. Thank you, Lisa. 00:59:16
Let me know future agenda items, we've got a couple coming up. 00:59:17
We already have them down. 00:59:21
And next. 00:59:23
Yeah. So next month our new. 00:59:24
Conservationists will be here and. 00:59:26
It would be good. 00:59:28
So I have just an update on the 590 plan. 00:59:29
What else did you see on this? Yes. 00:59:32
And put on their committee Rep for. 00:59:34
The Southern Area Association. 00:59:37
See if we have any interest from. 00:59:39
Committee members and I know that we have election coming. 00:59:41
But just we'll have to keep that out there. I suppose we would assign them. 00:59:46
I suppose the next the next committee would. 00:59:50
Assign them. 00:59:54
Depending who. 00:59:55
We'll have a couple new members who would be different. 00:59:56
It's just hard to throw a new committee member into the SAA. I understand. 00:59:58
I understand. 01:00:02
All right. Any other things on the future? 01:00:05
Agenda. 01:00:08
And we might have. 01:00:11
We'll probably have our new. 01:00:13
New UW extension. 01:00:17
Person 2. So next next meeting will be probably a lot of meet and greets. 01:00:18
They may not be when they're coming, right? 01:00:24
Yeah, it'll be. It'll be like the line they used. 01:00:26
Oh, OK, OK. 01:00:29
They'll be coming. 01:00:31
All right, all right. Sounds good. 01:00:32
But we'll be having some new. 01:00:34
And then, yeah, so I think we're all set. 01:00:36
Anything else? 01:00:39
Come before the committee. 01:00:40
I think we've got it all covered. 01:00:41
I make a motion to. 01:00:43
Well entertain a motion to adjourn. 01:00:45
From someone or I can just say adjourn according to the we finished the agenda. How about that? 01:00:47
Adjourned. I call the meeting. Adjourned. 01:00:52
OK. 01:00:57
So we sent out to the people around the. 01:01:00
Days so any questions? 01:01:02
What we're doing. 01:01:05
OK, can you keep this? 01:01:07
Yeah, yeah. 01:01:09

I do OK.
Yeah, yeah. 01:01:09
