Special order of business to provide the County Board Supervisors with an update on Human Services and Health Department tornado 00:02:18
disaster efforts. 00:02:22
A report by Becky. 00:02:28
Good evening. Can you hear me? 00:02:49
OK, first of all I just want to. 00:02:51
Publicly acknowledge the Human Services and health staff that responded. 00:02:54
The night of the tornado. 00:02:59
I think we did a really good job. 00:03:03
I might be a little biased, but I'm here to kind of talk to you about. 00:03:05
What it is that we did in response? 00:03:09
The natural disaster that occurred in our communities. 00:03:12
So at approximately 6:05 we were notified that we needed to set up a family assistance center. 00:03:16
And we did so at the Dodge Lynn School. 00:03:22
Dodgeland school officials were there. 00:03:27
They were assisting us throughout the event, which was very much appreciated. 00:03:29
They um. 00:03:34
They provided snacks, water and games for the children. 00:03:36
We also were requested to set up a family assistance at. 00:03:40
In Mayville at the Take Center. 00:03:43
We also did that. 00:03:45
In total. 00:03:48
We. 00:03:50
Assisted 51 residents of Dodge County. 00:03:52
39. 00:03:56
Of them were in the Juno. 00:03:59
Area and 12 were from Mayville. 00:04:01
The Red Cross was also available and they. 00:04:05
Assisted by providing us a trailer filled with supplies. 00:04:08
We remained at the Dodgeland. 00:04:13
Site till approximately 10:30. 00:04:15
When the Red Cross came and we were in Mayville at the site until around midnight. 00:04:18
The following morning we returned to Dodgeland School and to the Mayville High School. 00:04:25
Which were the designated sites to continue to provide outreach and assistance to individuals? 00:04:31
Additionally, back at the office. 00:04:37
We started our outreach efforts to the individuals that we knew from the night before. 00:04:39
Providing them with information and assistance, we sent out resource packets. 00:04:44
Through the course of our. 00:04:51
Contact with individuals We identified approximately 9 individuals that required more intensive case management services, if you 00:04:53
will, based upon. 00:04:58
The level of. 00:05:02
Impact that those individual people had. 00:05:06
From from the tornado. 00:05:10
And so. 00:05:13
We provided. 00:05:16
Hotel vouchers. 00:05:17
On a limited basis. 00:05:19
For one family. 00:05:21
One individual received gift cards for gas. 00:05:23
And there were three individuals that received long term housing assistance through the department. 00:05:27
And so in closing, I think it's really important to kind of highlight how. 00:05:33
Our services positively impacted. 00:05:38
At least one individual. 00:05:42
And so I want to read something that was sent to us. 00:05:44
And this is from somebody who received services through our department through the event. 00:05:48
The most helpful thing was the help from all of you. 00:05:54
The worst part was not knowing if I was going to have a roof over my head every night. 00:05:57
And you paying for my hotel stay was life saving. 00:06:00
However, the most helpful was the first month's rent and security deposit. 00:06:04
And so. 00:06:09
That's kind of we also throughout the event we were notified in Mayville that there were some, there was concern for people who 00:06:12
were oxygen dependent and so. 00:06:17
Our public health officer reached out to the state of Wisconsin. 00:06:23
Got names and addresses of people who were oxygen dependent and that information was provided to EMS. 00:06:26
So that EMS could go and check on them. I forgot to mention that, so does anybody have any questions? 00:06:32
Yes. 00:06:41
Thank you. Thank you so much, Becky for for sharing all of this. 00:06:44
Could you also speak to the Public Health response trailer? 00:06:48
Absolutely. 00:06:53
So. 00:06:55
Human Services and health was not impacted clearly as much as Clearview was. 00:06:58
But during the the tornado, our our Human Services. 00:07:03
And health sign for our building was. 00:07:07
It was taken apart, if you will, and also the public health trailer that we recently purchased, it purchased ironically for 00:07:13
emergency preparedness events in particular. 00:07:18
That trailer. 00:07:25
Was located on one side of our parking lot. 00:07:26
And after the tornado, it was on the opposite side of the parking lot and did sustain. 00:07:29
A fair amount of damage. 00:07:36
Any other questions? 00:07:41
Thank you, Becky. 00:07:46

Now Supervisor Hedrick. 00:17:48
Should be on. 00:17:55
Should should be on. 00:17:56
The question about the cemetery. 00:18:01
What happens when a cemetery is moved to the grave sites? The gravestones? The history? 00:18:05
I have no idea that's that was the the town submittal for map clean up so. 00:18:14
That would be a question for them. 00:18:21
What was that discussed at the committee, why they were asking for that? 00:18:28
To be done or. 00:18:32
You're on deal. 00:18:43
It's to make the maps. 00:18:46
Coincide with the state maps. They weren't in agreement as I understand it. 00:18:48
So the town had to correct their map to match the state. 00:18:52
And I don't believe they're going to be doing anything different with the cemetery. I just think it's. 00:19:01
It's what the town had proposed. 00:19:07
So that they could. 00:19:10
Ultimately. 00:19:12
Get more. 00:19:13
Credits towards farmland preservation. 00:19:15
Any other questions? 00:19:24
Any other questions? 00:19:28
